About Us

Welcome

Thanks for your interest in DeSoto United Methodist Church. DeSoto is a place filled with loving and caring people. We have many activities and ministries and opportunities for serving, people are the center of our mission. We strive to be a reflection of Jesus love inside and outside the church. We are not all alike at DeSoto UMC but we are all united in living out our lives as disciples of Jesus Christ.

Each person here at the church family is just like you – full of hopes and dreams, needs and concerns. We are all at different stages in our spiritual life. We are good with that and believe it is God’s plan for us that we are a place for all kinds of people. You will find a lot of grace here. Come and check us out in person. This website will be your window to all we do in worship, learning, and service. When you come to see us, be sure to find me for a welcome, hug or handshake. I would love to meet you and your family.

What We Believe

We believe in Congregational Care: people matter to God and therefore matter to us. SO members: active or inactive; professing or constituents, as well as homebound and/or guests will be provided the best Christian nurture and love that can be offered.

We believe in Stewardship: that everything we have is from God therefore Christian stewardship is our way of living with all that God has entrusted to us. Sharing and using it on behalf of God. This includes but is not limited to our building, our finances and our gifts for ministry.

We believe in Inclusiveness: it is important to welcome with open arms and share radical hospitality with all peoples, presenting a warm atmosphere of fellowship that will not alienate anyone seeking to learn about Jesus and His love.

We believe in embracing our Methodist Heritage: of putting faith and love in action. We are guided by a community church heritage of welcoming hearts, caring for one another and being servants of Jesus Christ.

We believe in being Mission and Service Minded , it is important to learn about, support and get involved in projects and ministries locally and abroad to assist to in need as we share the love of Jesus Christ.

We believe in Connecting • People in our Church and People in our Community • With Christ • One Another and To The Mission
